Bar-restaurant Sorenga Sjomat in Oslo
As a finishing touch for the fresh industrial interior of this Norwegian restaurant are the tables were covered with white pennyround mosaics. These round mosaics have a diameter of 19 mm. Because they are so small, they can seamlessly follow the rounded corners of the tables.
The same mosaics can be found on the sides of the bars in the restaurant. The bar in the restaurant area was also clad in the white version. For the counter in the café, the architect opted for black, which creates a cozier, secure feeling.
Original visual effect
A nice detail is that the stones run further on the ground, with a curved transition between the bar and floor. A choice that, in combination with the concrete poured floor next to it, also produces an original visual effect.
The designer’s idea is perfectly achievable thanks to the durability of these mosaic stones: they are guaranteed to withstand the daily sliding of the bar stools back and forth.
